Diné, is originally from Na’nizhoozhí (Gallup), New Mexico. She is Ashiihí (Salt Clan) and born for Honágháanii (One Who Walks Around Clan). 

Working with the Law Center for twelve years, Valarie resides in Farmington, New Mexico.  As an advocate with the Law Center’s program through the National Center on Aging; her work is connected to outreach to those who need assistance in obtaining federal benefits. Adding supports for older Dine’ people, in her own community, as well as the Navajo Nation, is the central part of her job description. In 2016 Valarie completed the New Mexico leadership program through the University of New Mexico “Partners in Policy Making.”
